Digital Learning Day 2017

Tens of thousands of educators and students across the country demonstrated how technology can improve student learning as part of the sixth annual national Digital Learning Day (DLDay) on February 23, 2017.This year, nearly 2,000 local celebrations decorated the Digital Learning Day map, providing a window into how education technology is incorporated into daily student learning.

The Value of a Connected Classroom

As part of the DLDay celebrations, the Alliance hosted a webinar on the value of a connected classroom, providing important and practical information for superintendents, principals, and teachers. During the webinar, panelists discussed the challenges and solutions to building out a school district’s technology infrastructure to provide high-speed internet connections, including how to take advantage of the federal Lifeline and E-rate programs. Statewide project highlights Carroll's 3-D printing, Tech Center

Gov. Larry Hogan will join students from throughout Maryland on Thursday to see the results of a statewide 3-D printing project, according to a news release from Maryland State Department of Education. Students in Maryland's 24 public school systems built pieces of a "large-scale topographical map of the state," according to the release, using 3-D printers. Select students will gather on Thursday in the State House on Digital Learning Day to put together the map for the very first time.

Many schools in the Wausau school district took part in National Digital Learning Day on Thursday. But for one classroom it was just a normal day. Renee Heinrich is a kindergarten through 5th-grade science teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary and has been using technology in the classroom for many years now.

For the second year in a row, WFISD is participating in digital learning day an opportunity for schools to collaborate, share ideas, try new digital tools, and celebrate education innovation. WFISD officials say most importantly, it encourages everyone to play a role in helping their own schools and communities face the future.

Kingsley Students Celebrate Digital Learning Day with New Technology

Students at Kingsley Elementary School are celebrating Digital learning Day with new technology. For the past two years, fourth graders in Mrs. Trowbridge’s class have been learning about coding on Chrome books. This week, the students have also started using Dash robots. Teachers say it’s important to set aside time in the classroom for digital learning.
